Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Metis, developed and operated by Iurie Nunu (“we, ” “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.

The service

Metis is a vocabulary app: it turns words you look up into memory cards, and resurfaces them for review using spaced repetition. Some features generate content using third-party AI language models — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. One account per person — don't share your login with others.

Subscriptions and billing

Metis offers an optional Premium subscription, billed and managed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play — never directly by us. Subscriptions automatically renew at the price and interval shown at purchase unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can view pricing, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's subscription settings — canceling takes exactly as many steps as subscribing did.

Canceling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current billing period. Refunds, where applicable, are handled by Apple or Google according to their own policies, not by us directly.

AI-generated content

Translations, meanings, and example sentences in Metis are generated by third-party AI language models. They're meant to help you learn — not as a substitute for professional or certified translation. Occasionally they may be inaccurate; use your judgment, especially for anything important.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Metis for anything illegal, or to submit unlawful content for translation.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service.
• Circumvent subscription limits or payment through the app.

Your content

You retain any rights you have in the words and phrases you search. By using Metis, you grant us a license to store, process, and display that content back to you as part of the service — including sharing AI-generated definitions for common words across users, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. You can stop using Metis and request deletion of your account at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Metis is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
